What isThe Cooking Shop?

The Cooking Shop was established in 2001 as one of the UK's first online cookware stores, developed by a couple of amateur chefs called Jules and Tabitha who wanted to be able to order the more quirky and non standard cookware that one might find in more specialist cookware stores.  Several years later it is now one of the leading specialist cookware stores with shops in Oxfordshire and a vast array of interesting and practical cookware items either online or in store.  If, like us, you are passionate about cooking then we should be your favourite shop.  All of our products are carefully selected by our team for their practical use in the kitchen and we are brutally honest about how good a product is.  If we don't like it we won't sell it!  Because we are all passionate about cooking we also know a lot about cookware products, so please feel free to telephone us anytime if you have a query we can assist with.

We consider the security of the information that you provide to be extremely important and we have therefore taken every precaution to ensure that the privacy of your personal and payment details remains confidential. Our checkout system is the very latest technology called Protx by Barclaycard which is considered the leading and safest online checkout system.  

What is our policy on data protection?

During your shopping experience with us you may be required to input personal data including your name, address and contact details. Once we have collected the details we need from you, they are encrypted and stored on our secure database and at no point are your details stored online. We fully comply with all relevant data protection and consumer legislation, to make sure that our customers and their details will be treated in a safe and confidential manner. At the checkout you can select whether to receive further information from us or any of our partner companies. If you prefer, you can choose not to receive information from us regarding our developments and offers or occasionally from carefully selected third parties.

We try to make www.thecookingshop.com a beautiful website to browse around, so don’t feel that you have to use the quick-search option to go directly to what you need.  Our products are organised into categories and sub-categories, which makes navigating your way around an easy and enjoyable experience.

If you were looking, for example, for a teapot, your first click would be ‘Breakfast and Tea’.It is then very easy to identify the sub-category entitled ‘Teapots’ and thus view potentially suitable products.

 

Suppliers

We have a wide range of suppliers who manufacture the products displayed on our website.  By personally inspecting every product before we add it to the site we ensure the quality of our products.

You may have seen many of our products featured in home interest magazines and we would love to hear of any features you have noticed. Products we have identified in various articles are pointed out throughout the site.

 

Product information and images

Once you have seen a product that you like the look of, you can click on the image to display a larger picture or alternative images together with a product description, product features, dimensions and customer reviews, all of which are regularly updated and verified.

 

Shopping basket and checkout

If you decide to buy a product, or a number of products, from us, you can add them to your shopping basket.  This does not mean that you are under any obligation to eventually purchase them and you can remove items at the checkout.

Once you are sure of your choices, you can proceed to our online secure checkout, where relevant details such as name, address, method of payment etc will be asked of you.  We use ProTx payment which is owned and run by Barclays Merchant Services a division of Barclays Bank Plc.  We believe this is the safest online checkout system in the world currently and ensures your safety at all times.

How do I request a refund?

We take every possible step to ensure that your products arrive with you in an excellent condition and that you will be highly satisfied with your online experience. It may be, however, that you change your mind about your order and if so, we aim to make the process as quick and convenient as possible.

If you want to return a product that you have purchased, you must let us know within 7 days of receiving it. This can be by phone, fax, E-mail or mail (see ‘Contact Us’). You must then arrange for the product to be returned to us in it’s original packaging undamaged or unused.  Once we receive the product back and verify that it is undamaged and unused we will refund the original card used with the value of the product.  We recommend that you ensure that you have proof of sending any returns as we will not refund returns which are not received.  By using Royal Mail Recorded delivery, the return is insured and you have proof of sending.  Alternatively we can arrange for Parcel Force to collect the parcel and return it to us in which case we will deduct the cost of the return delivery (usually £7.50 within the UK)

Getting your money back

As soon as we have received and verified the products back at our warehouse, we will initiate a full refund to the original credit card as quickly as possible.

How can I track my order?

On the right hand side of the web pages, you can see a button that allows you to track the progress of your order.  The products you have ordered will be dispatched within 1 to 3 days if it is in stock or 7 to 10 days if it is out of stock.   You can see when your order is dispatched and when it is due to be delivered.  The products will be delivered via either Royal Mail registered post or Parcel Force, both of which require a signature to deliver.

We aim to provide you with a service you can return to again and again.  This is an online shopping service which is both easy to use and secure.  There are however, some terms and conditions you should be aware of to make your use of the website entirely satisfactory.

 

Delivery

The delivery charge is calculated after you have finally decided on the products that you wish to purchase.  It is based partly on the total weight of the selected products and their packaging and partly on the cost of the packaging, so size can have an effect. Delivery to any other location can be quoted for by telephoning 0845 3131490 between the hours of 9 to 5 GMT. If there are any problems with your delivery, we will notify you immediately.

Please note that every delivery must be signed for so it may be worth choosing a delivery address where this is feasible.

Your purchases should arrive with you between 1 and 3 days from the date we process your order, if the product is in stock, however for out of stock items delivery may take 7 to 10 days.  If there is an unacceptable delay in the despatch process, we can offer you a full refund.

Our products make ideal gifts, and it is very easy to specify a different delivery address and billing address on the order form at the checkout.

If you have a complaint of any kind, please don’t hesitate to contact us.  All complaints are dealt with by one of our Directors.  We promise to deal with any complaint within 5 working days and keep you informed at every stage of the resolution process.

 

Knives

It is illegal to sell knives to anyone under 18 years of age therefore if you have or are purchasing these type of products from The Cooking Shop you agree that you are over the age of 18 and we reserve the right to refuse to sell knives to anyone who cannot prove their age.
